5 Things Parents Should Know About ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’

Peter Parker is your typical 15-year-old sophomore trying to fit in at school. That is, when he’s not wearing his Spider-Man tights, swinging from skyscrapers and snagging bad guys.

Parker, though, isn’t content with fighting local crime. He wants to join the Avengers. He also longs to get a date with the senior girl that caught his eye the other day.

So far, though, life isn’t going the way he intended. His mentor, Tony Stark (Iron Man), doesn’t think he’s ready for prime time. Stark even took away his specially designed tights.

“I’m nothing without this suit!” Parker tells him.

And that girl? She’s not crazy about him … although she does have a crush on, well, Spider-Man. (If only she knew the truth!)

Spider-Man: Homecoming (PG-13) opens in theaters this weekend, giving us a look at a younger Peter Parker – a teenager who is coming to grips with his superhero powers. Stark wants to hold him back, but Parker wants to break his shackles so he can stop a villain named Adrian Toomes/Vulture (Michael Keaton) from developing weapons that are so powerful they could destroy the Avengers.
