5 Must Do Activities For Mom This Summer

Summer is here! You’ve survived another school year. Whether it was a great one or one that you are more than ready to move on from, it’s time to make plans for the summer. But this article isn’t about plans for keeping the kids busy all summer. This is about making plans for mom so she is rested and prepared for the next school year.

What are the must-do activities for moms this summer? Here are some suggestions. See which ones work for you!

Read a Good Book

Read a book simply for the pleasure of it. Not because you are going to teach it in the fall or in preparing for a class. Allow yourself the time choose something fun just for your own enjoyment.

Sleep

Are you tired after a marathon year? Take the time to get some extra sleep. Turn off the television and go to bed early every night for a week (or two!). Lack of sleep contributes to so many physical, mental, and emotional challenges. Simply by getting more sleep you will improve your life.

Spend a Day with a Friend

Moms often have little to no time to nurture friendships, especially if they are in the daily homeschool trenches. Plan to spend a day with a good friend. Make it a day of laughing, talking, and encouraging each other. Arrange for childcare with someone else so you can focus on relaxing and conversation. You can even trade off so you take her children another time so she can go out with a friend!

Take a Planning Day

Take one whole day to start planning for next year. If you do it earlier in the summer, you will have it off your mind rather than allowing it to hang over your head all summer. You can also look over the summer for deals on things you might need to pick up for the next school year.

Clear Out the Clutter

Get the junk out of the house. Free yourself from the constant mental and visual clutter demands that drain you every single day. Take care of all the paperwork from the school year. File it, pitch it, save it, or otherwise deal with it. Don’t allow it to continue to accumulate and add to your work for the fall.

Summer is a great time for mom to take good care of herself. What are some other summer must-do items on your list?
